Entailment

Entailment is like a puzzle. When you figure out one piece of the puzzle, you automatically know what the other pieces should look like.

For example, imagine you have a puzzle piece that’s a picture of a cat. You know that if the cat is there, then the cat’s tail should be there too. If the cat has white fur, then you know that the cat has different colored fur around the eyes.

In language, entailment works the same way. If someone says, “I have a pet cat,” you can assume that they have a pet. If someone says, “I have an apple in my hand,” you can assume that they are holding something in their hand.

So, in summary, entailment means that if something is true, then other things that are related to it must also be true. It's like a puzzle where all the pieces fit together to give you a complete picture.
