Environmental impact of shipping

Shipping is how products get from one place to another using boats, planes, or even trains or trucks. It's really important for getting lots of things around the world, like food, clothes, and other products. But it also has a bad effect on the environment.

When ships use their engines to move around in the water, they use fuels like diesel, which create a lot of pollution. The pollution is made up of tiny particles and gases that are released into the air and water. This can harm plants and animals, and can also make the air and water unsafe to breathe and drink.

Also, ships dump waste into the ocean. This can include things like oil, chemicals, and garbage. This waste can contaminate the water and affect marine life.

Shipping also uses a lot of energy, which causes more pollution. This means that even when ships aren't moving, they can still have an impact on the environment.

So although shipping is very important for getting products to people around the world, it does have a bad effect on the environment.
