ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Epigenetic therapy

Epigenetic therapy is a type of medicine that helps to change a person's genetic material without changing the underlying genetics of their DNA. This means it can be used to turn genes on or off, or change the way they work. For example, it could be used to stop cancer cells from growing or to help bring about a healthier body weight. Epigenetic therapy works by sending signals to specific molecules in the body. These signals can tell the molecules to change their structure or function, which can then affect how genes are expressed.
