ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Erilaz

Erilaz is a special word used in Old Norse, which is an old language that people used to speak a long, long time ago. In those days, there were people known as Vikings who lived in places like Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The Vikings loved their language, and they had a special word called “Erilaz” which means “rune master” or “magician”.

Now, you might be wondering what a rune master is. Well, a rune is a special symbol that the Vikings used to write their language. The rune masters were people who had learned how to read and write these symbols and were considered very intelligent and powerful. They could use the runes to tell the future, heal the sick or protect people from bad luck. They were kind of like superheroes in a way!

So, when people called someone an Erilaz, they were saying that they were very skilled in reading and using these special symbols. It was a really cool thing to be called because it meant that you were highly respected and admired for your knowledge and magic skills.
