Ernst Cassirer was a German philosopher in the early 1900s whose philosophy is known as "Philosophy of Symbolic Forms". This means that he studied how we use symbols, such as words, images, and numbers- to make sense of the world around us. He believed that the way we use these symbols reflects our understanding of what is real and true, and the way we express our thoughts and feelings. He argued that the work of art, such as music, literature, sculpture, and painting- reflect many of these ideas. Cassirer's work is still important today, because it helps us understand how our beliefs, culture, and the way we interact with the world are shaped by our use of symbols.
