Ethash is a type of computer code that helps to make cryptocurrency (like Bitcoin or Ethereum) secure. It helps to make sure that people who own cryptocurrency can't spend the same coins twice. It also makes sure that people who create coins can't make too many. To do this, it creates a bunch of very hard math problems for computers to solve. When a computer solves one of the problems, it gets the right to add a new block of transactions to the blockchain--the digital record of who owns what cryptocurrency.
