Etymology

Etymology is the study of the origin and history of words. To make it simpler to understand, think of it like a giant family tree made of words. Each word is like a person, and you try to find out where that word came from by looking at the other words around it. You look at words that have similar meanings and see if they're related to each other. In some cases, you might even look back thousands of years to see how the word has changed over time.
