Event correlation is a way of connecting different events together that may be related. For example, if you hear a sound coming from the kitchen, you might use event correlation to decide if it was a mouse knocking over the cookie jar, or something else. To do this, you would think about other events that might have happened at the same time. Did you just see your pet cat walking into the kitchen? If so, then it was probably the cat knocking over the jar, not a mouse!
