Evolution of complexity is a term that means the way that things have grown and changed over time. Just like people change and grow as they get older, so do plants and animals, and even tiny things like bacteria. Over many years, lots of small changes can add up to make something very complex. For example, over many years, dinosaurs changed and developed into birds. Each change on its own was small, but when put together, these changes created something complex – a flying bird. Even in the tiniest of things, like bacteria, evolution can create complexity. Bacteria can change and adapt to survive in different environments, allowing them to become more and more complex over time.
