Evolution is when things change over a long time. Just like you grow and change, plants also grow and change over many, many years.
Plants first evolved a long time ago, before there were even any people on Earth. At that time, there were no flowers or fruits like we have today. The first plants were just simple algae that lived in the water.
Over millions of years, some of these plants evolved to be able to live on land. They grew roots and leaves, and eventually some of them even started to produce flowers and fruits.
Plants have evolved many different ways of reproducing. Some use seeds, like the ones you might plant in a garden. Others use spores, which are like tiny seeds that can float on the wind.
As plants evolved, they also adapted to different environments. Some plants evolved to live in hot and dry places, like deserts. Others evolved to live in cold and snowy places, like the Arctic.
Today, plants are all around us. They are in our gardens, in the forests, in the ocean, and even in the air we breathe. And they continue to evolve and change, just like we do!
