ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Evolution of the brain

Evolution is a process that happens over a long period of time which changes living things so they can adapt to their environment better. The brains of animals have evolved over time too. Over millions of years, brains have grown bigger and have developed new features. For example, animals now have bigger brains than their ancestors so they can understand what is happening around them. They can also do things that their ancestors couldn't do, like remember, solve problems, learn new things and communicate.
