ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle

So, you know how we can send things up into space using rockets, right? Well, there's a type of rocket called the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV for short), which is really cool because it can carry lots of different things into space.

It's kind of like a really big car that carries lots of tiny cars inside it. But instead of cars, it carries things like satellites, spacecraft, and other important stuff that scientists and engineers want to send up into space.

The EELV is made up of two main parts: the rocket itself (which is the big car), and the payload (which are all the tiny cars it carries inside). The rocket is really strong and powerful, so it can launch everything inside it into space.

The EELV is also designed to be expendable, which means it's only used once and then thrown away. Even though it seems wasteful, this actually makes it a lot safer and more efficient, because all the parts of the rocket are designed to work perfectly together just for this one launch.

So, in summary, the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle is like a big car that carries lots of tiny cars (satellites, spacecraft, etc.) inside it and launches them all into space. It's designed to be really strong and powerful, and even though it's only used once, it's the safest and most efficient way to get things into space.
