Excarnation

Excarnation is when the skin and flesh of a dead animal or human is completely taken away, leaving only the bones behind. It's like taking the wrapping paper off a gift to see what's inside! There are different ways that excarnation can happen. Sometimes, other animals such as vultures or insects will eat the flesh until it's all gone. Other times, people will purposely remove the flesh from the bones in a process called defleshing. This can involve leaving the body out in the open or using special tools to scrape away the skin and muscle. Excarnation has been done by different cultures around the world for thousands of years, and can be used for different reasons. For example, some people believe that excarnation is a way to show respect for the dead by allowing their bodies to become part of nature again, while others use it for medical research or to create art.
