ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Excavator

An excavator is like a huge, big arm with a super strong hand that can dig and move things around. Imagine you have a toy shovel that you use to dig in the sand at the beach, but way bigger and stronger.

Excavators are used in construction sites to dig big holes in the ground, move really heavy objects and even break apart concrete! They have a big, round body that sits on tracks, like a tank. This helps them move around easily on uneven surfaces.

At the end of the excavator's long arm is a big bucket that can dig into the dirt, scoop it up, and move it to a different place. The bucket looks like a big scooper that you might use to make sandcastles.

Excavators are controlled by an operator who sits in a small cab on the top of the excavator. From there, they use a joystick to move the arm and bucket around.

Overall, excavators are very helpful machines that make building things easier by moving a lot of dirt and rocks quickly and efficiently!
