Explanatory style is how you explain things to yourself. It's the way that you explain why things happen. It can be either positive or negative. When you have a positive explanatory style, you might say to yourself, "I did great in that test because I studied hard." When you have a negative explanatory style, you might say to yourself, "I failed that test because I'm not good at math." Both styles of explaining can affect how you feel and how you do in the future.
