ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Locus of control

Locus of control is the way in which someone views the world. It's a way of understanding if a person feels they can control what happens in their life, or if they feel that things just happen to them. For example, if you feel like winning a game or getting a good grade is completely out of your control and is random luck, then you have an external locus of control - this means you feel like things in life are out of your control. On the other hand, if you feel like you can do things to make good things happen for yourself, like working hard to win a game or to get a good grade, then you have an internal locus of control - this means you feel like you are in control of what happens in your life.
