Okay kiddo, so a really long time ago, some people from another place called Europe wanted to go on an adventure and explore a new land. They got on big wooden boats called ships and sailed across the big blue ocean to a place called North America.
When they got there, they saw a lot of new things they had never seen before like big forests, rolling hills, and huge rivers. They also saw some animals they had never heard of before like bison and moose.
The first people from Europe to come to North America were the Vikings. They landed in an area now called Newfoundland, but they didn't stay very long.
A long time after the Vikings left, another guy named Christopher Columbus wanted to find a new route to India. Instead, he stumbled upon a whole new continent!
After that, lots of people from different countries in Europe wanted to come to North America to find new things and start new lives. They were called explorers, and they came from places like Spain, France, and England.
Some of the famous explorers were named John Cabot, Jacques Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Henry Hudson. They all wanted to find new places to live and ways to make money.
The explorers faced many challenges while exploring North America. They had to deal with bad weather, rough seas, and even unfriendly Indigenous people who lived there first.
But despite all these challenges and hardships, they kept exploring and discovering new lands, and that's how North America came to be the way it is today!
