Expressive power (computer science)

Expressive power is a way of talking about how powerful a programming language (or other type of computer language) is. It means how much you can do with it - how complex tasks you can perform, and how much control you have of the computer. In general, the more powerful a language is, the more things you can do with it. So programmers like having lots of expressive power to work with because it makes it easier to do complicated tasks.
