ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Extradition

Extradition is when someone who did something bad in one place is sent to another place so they can be punished for their bad actions. It's kind of like when you borrow a toy from your friend's house, but then you have to give it back when your friend asks for it.

So, let's say your friend lives in another town and you borrow their toy without asking. Your friend's mom finds out and she gets very upset. She tells your mom that she wants you to be punished for taking the toy without permission.

Your mom then says that you must give the toy back to your friend and maybe say you're sorry. This is kind of like extradition because you did something bad in your friend's town, but your mom is making sure you go back to your friend's town to apologize and make things right.

In the same way, if someone does something bad in one country or state, they might have to go to another country or state to be punished for their actions. The people in that country or state want to make sure that justice is served and the person is held accountable for what they did wrong.
