Félicette

Félicette was a special cat! In 1963, she became the first and only cat to ever go to space. Scientists in France chose Félicette and sent her to space in a rocket to collect information about what space is like and whether cats can go there. Félicette had special sensors stuck to her body to measure things like her breathing, heart rate, and temperature during the flight. After about 15 minutes, Félicette returned safely to Earth!
