Face value

Imagine you have a shiny new coin in your hand. On one side of the coin, you see a picture of a person or an animal, and on the other side, you see a number. That number is called the face value.

The face value tells you how much that coin is worth, in terms of money. For example, if the face value of the coin is 25 cents, it means that the coin is worth 25 cents.

But just because a coin has a high face value, doesn't mean that it's worth a lot of money. For example, if you have a penny with a face value of 1 cent, it's not worth much to most people.

So, the face value is just a way to tell you how much money a coin is worth, but you also have to consider other factors, like rarity and condition, to know how much a coin is really worth.
