ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Facial expression detection

Facial expression detection is a way of using computers to identify how someone is feeling by looking at their facial expressions. Computers can use a camera or other technology to look at a person's face, and use a computer program to identify certain facial features, such as the shapes of their eyes, nose and mouth. The computer then compares these facial features with a database of known facial expressions, in order to decide which emotion a person is expressing. This can help people understand how someone is feeling, even if they aren't talking or using words.
