Fascine

A fascine is like a long sausage made out of sticks and twigs that is used to help protect a place from things like wind or water. Kind of like how you build a wall out of blocks to protect your sandcastle at the beach. The sticks and twigs in the fascine all stick together and make a big long tube that can be put in place to help keep things like dirt and sand from moving too much. Sometimes people use fascines to help protect the ground from erosion, which is when the dirt gets worn away by something like water or wind. They can also help slow down or redirect water when there is too much of it in one place, like during a big storm. So, a fascine is a special tool that can help keep things safe and steady when nature tries to move everything around.
