Favela

A favela is a type of slum in Brazil where people live without having much money or the same access to resources that other people have in other parts of the country. In favelas, people usually don't have safe homes, clean water, or even food, so it's hard for them to make a living. People living in favelas often have to work extra hard to make enough money to survive and to give their children a good education.
