Feldmark

So imagine you are standing in a really big field with your friends. Now, let's say that this whole big field is called a mark. But, the field is so big that it's hard to keep track of where everything is.

To help you keep track of things, people a long time ago started to divide the field into different areas, kind of like putting up fences in a yard. Each of these areas was called a feldmark.

Each feldmark had its own unique characteristics, like maybe one was really good for growing vegetables, while another had a lot of trees for firewood.

The people who lived and worked on the field would know which feldmark was good for what, and would use them for different purposes.

So basically, a feldmark is just a small area within a larger field that has specific characteristics and uses.
