ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Filipinos

Filipinos are people who come from a country called the Philippines, which is located in Southeast Asia. Just like how you have friends at school who come from different countries, Filipinos are like your friends who come from the Philippines.

The Philippines has lots of islands, more than 7,000 of them! That's a lot more than the number of fingers you have on your hands. This means that Filipinos come from many different places and have different cultures and traditions.

Filipinos are known for being friendly, hospitable, and family-oriented. They love to share their food with others and have big celebrations like fiestas with lots of dancing and singing. Some popular Filipino foods are adobo (a savory and tangy meat), lumpia (similar to spring rolls), and lechon (a roasted pig).

Filipinos also love music, especially singing. In fact, many Filipino singers have become famous all around the world, like Lea Salonga and Charice.

The Philippines has its own language called Tagalog, but many Filipinos also speak English because it was taught in schools during the time when the Philippines was a colony of the United States.

Just like any other group of people, Filipinos come in different sizes, shapes, and colors. But one thing that binds them all together is their love for their culture and their country.
