Fingerprinting

Have you ever noticed the lines on your fingertips? Those lines create a unique pattern that no one else has! Fingerprinting is when we take a picture or copy of those lines to help identify someone.

Long ago, people used fingerprints to sign important papers or contracts. But now we use it mostly for security purposes like to get into a building or to unlock a phone.

When you get your fingerprints taken, the person taking them uses a special machine to scan your fingertips. The scan creates a picture that shows all the different lines and curves on your fingertips. This picture is called a "fingerprint".

Scientists have discovered that no two people have the same fingerprint. This means that everyone's fingerprints are unique just like a snowflake or a unicorn! This is why we use fingerprints to help solve crimes or identify people.

So, remember those lines on your fingertips are special and can help keep you safe!
