Fire performance

Fire performance, also known as fire dancing, is when people use props such as torches or poi (weighted tethered balls) that are lit on fire to create mesmerizing visual displays.

First, a performer chooses a prop (the tool they will use) and prepares it by soaking it in a special fuel. Then, they ignite the prop and begin to move it around their body in a controlled and choreographed manner.

Performers must take many safety precautions since they are working with fire. They wear clothing that is made from non-flammable materials, keep a safety barrier between themselves and the audience or any objects, and have safety equipment (such as a damp towel or fire extinguisher) nearby in case of an emergency.

Audiences are drawn to fire performance because of the danger and excitement of watching someone dance with fire. However, it should be noted that fire performance should only be done by experienced and trained individuals, and should never be attempted by children or those who are not properly equipped or trained.
