Firebreak

Okay, imagine you have a bunch of trees in your backyard but maybe some of them are getting a little too close to your house. You don't want the trees to catch on fire and then spread the fire to your house, right? That would be really bad!

That's kind of what a firebreak is. It's a special area you make around the trees or other things you want to protect. You clear out all the dead leaves, branches, and other things that might catch on fire easily. This way, if a fire starts somewhere near your backyard, it won't be able to jump over the firebreak and get to your house.

Think of it like a big invisible fence that keeps the fire away! It's really important to have firebreaks in places where there are lots of trees or dry plants that could easily catch on fire.
