When people want to eat fish, they catch them and bring them to a special place to prepare them to be eaten. This is called fish slaughter.
The first thing that happens is the fish are taken out of the water, and then they can't breathe because they need water to breathe. So they might feel scared and confused.
Next, the fish are usually put on a cutting board, where someone uses a special tool called a knife to cut off their head. This can seem scary, but it happens very quickly and the fish doesn't feel any pain after.
After the head is removed, the person will usually cut open the fish's body and take out all the guts (like the stomach and intestines) so that the fish can be cleaned properly. This is often done with a tool called a scaler, which scrapes off the fish's scales so that the skin can be removed more easily.
Once the fish is cleaned, it is ready to be cooked and eaten. It is important to make sure the fish is slaughtered safely and humanely, so that it doesn't have any harmful bacteria and so that the fish doesn't suffer too much.
