ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Five-pointed star

Okay kiddo, do you know what a star is? It's a shape that looks like a sparkle in the sky at night, right? Well, a five-pointed star is a special kind of star that has five points.

To draw a five-pointed star, you start by making a dot in the middle of your paper. That dot is like the "bellybutton" of the star. Then, you draw a straight line straight up from the dot, and draw a shorter line across it, like a "T" shape.

Next, you draw a diagonal line down and to the right, starting from the top of the "T". Then, you draw another diagonal line down and to the left, from the top of the "T".

Now things get a little tricky. You have to draw another diagonal line up and to the right, starting from the bottom of the right-side diagonal line. Then, you draw another diagonal line up and to the left, starting from the bottom of the left-side diagonal line.

Finally, you connect the ends of those last two lines by drawing a short, horizontal line. And voila - you have a five-pointed star!

People like using the five-pointed star for lots of different things. It's a symbol that's important in many cultures and religions, and you might see it on flags, logos, or even in movies and TV shows. But the most important thing to remember is that it's just a shape with five points that looks like a sparkle in the sky!
