ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Flammable liquid

Okay kiddo, have you heard of fire before? When things burn, they turn into ash and smoke, right? Well, some liquids are very very easy to burn, which is why we call them flammable.

Think about how easy it is to light a piece of paper on fire with a matchstick – that’s because paper is flammable. Similarly, some liquids like gasoline, lighter fluid, or alcohol can catch fire very easily too.

This is why we have to be very careful when we use or store these liquids because if they catch fire, it can be dangerous for us and other people around. So, it's best to keep these liquids away from heat sources and follow safety precautions when handling them.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
