ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fluctuation-enhanced sensing

Fluctuation-enhanced sensing is like putting on a superpower hat to help you hear things better.

You know how sometimes it's hard to hear something when it's really quiet or there's a lot of other noise around? Fluctuation-enhanced sensing helps make those sounds easier to hear by amplifying tiny changes in the noise around you.

Just like you might hear your mom's footsteps getting closer and closer when she's walking down the hallway even if you can't hear her breathing, fluctuation-enhanced sensing can pick up on tiny movements or vibrations in the air or other things around you.

It's kind of like magic, but with science! Good luck, little superhero.
