ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Flyback transformer

A flyback transformer is a really special kind of transformer that helps to create electrical energy. It has a special coil of wire that is wrapped around a piece of metal called a core. When we run electricity through this coil, it creates a magnetic field that makes energy.

Now, this energy wants to spread out like a balloon filled with air, but the flyback transformer actually stops it from spreading out. Instead, it stores the energy for a short time and then sends a burst of that energy out in a big, powerful pulse. It's kind of like how when you blow up a balloon and then let it go, the air comes out in a sudden burst.

People use flyback transformers for a lot of things, like making the picture on a TV or computer screen. They also use them for powering things like electronic devices or even some medical equipment.

But it's important to remember that a flyback transformer can be really dangerous if you don't use it correctly. So if you ever see one, make sure to stay away unless you know what you're doing and have the help of an adult who knows how to handle it safely.
