Imagine you have a big tunnel in your belly called the alimentary tract, where all the food goes after you eat it. But sometimes, things that are not food, like tiny toys, coins or pen caps, might accidentally find their way into this tunnel too. These things, which are not supposed to be there, are called foreign bodies.
Now, when a foreign body gets stuck inside your alimentary tract, it can cause some trouble. Your body might try to push it out by making you feel like you need to throw up or poop, but sometimes it just won't budge. This can be uncomfortable, and it’s important to tell a grown-up if it happens.
If the foreign body continues to stay inside your belly, it can cause an infection, a blockage or even damage your body. That's why it's important to take care of your belly and always tell an adult if you accidentally swallow something you shouldn't have.
