Foreign involvement in the Syrian civil war

The Syrian Civil War is a conflict between the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad and a group of Syrians who are trying to get rid of him. This group of people is called rebels and they are supported by some other countries, including the United States. Foreign countries are involved in the Syrian Civil War because they want to support the rebel groups, or because they want to help the Syrian government. For example, the United States has sent weapons to the rebels and is providing other kinds of support. Other countries, like Russia, Iran, and Turkey are supporting the Syrian government by sending troops and weapons. This foreign involvement is one of the main reasons why the war has lasted so long.
