Forest Preserve

Hey kiddo! Do you know what a forest is? It's a big area filled with lots and lots of trees and plants!

Now, imagine if someone came and cut down all the trees and built buildings or roads on that forest. That wouldn't be very nice for the animals and plants living there, right? That's where a forest preserve comes in!

A forest preserve is a big area of land that's set aside and protected by the government. The government makes sure that nobody cuts down the trees or does anything else that might hurt the plants and animals living there.

People can still visit a forest preserve to hike, camp, or just enjoy nature, but they have to follow certain rules to make sure they don't harm the forest. For example, they can't litter, start fires, or hunt animals. By taking care of the forest, we can make sure that generations after us will get to enjoy it too!
