Forward compatibility

Forward compatibility is when a device is designed to work with future versions of something, like software or operating systems. For example, if a device can be used with the newest version of the software but also with future versions, then it is considered backwards compatible. This means that you won't need to buy a new device just because a new version of the software was released.
