Found objects

Okay kiddo, have you ever gone on a walk and found something cool like a rock, a stick, or maybe even a toy someone else left behind? That's called a found object!

Found objects are things that were not originally made to be art, but artists can use them to make something new and interesting. Instead of using brand-new materials like paint, paper or clay, artists can create art with things they find in the world around them.

For example, an artist might find an old bicycle wheel and use it as a frame for a sculpture. Or they might find some old toys and use them to make a collage. Sometimes, artists will even use trash or things people throw away to make their art!

Using found objects in art is like taking an adventure through the world around us, and finding treasures that we can turn into something beautiful. It's a way to show that art can come from anywhere, and that there's lots of cool and interesting things waiting to be discovered if we just take the time to look around us.
