Foundry sand testing

Okay, imagine you are building a sandcastle at the beach. Before you start building, you want to make sure the sand you’re using is strong enough so that your castle doesn’t fall apart.

In a similar way, when businesses make metal products like car parts or airplane engines, they use something called foundry sand to help melt the metal. But they need to test the foundry sand to make sure it’s strong enough to help make a good product.

They do this by putting the foundry sand through different tests. These tests look at things like how much weight the sand can hold, how much water it can soak up, and how well it can resist heat.

The results of these tests tell the business if the sand is strong enough to help them make good metal products. And just like how you need strong sand for your sandcastle, a business needs strong foundry sand to make good metal products.
