ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Framework interpretation (Genesis)

Okay kiddo! So, framework interpretation is a way some people understand the Bible story about where the world and everything in it came from, and how it was made. It's called "framework" because it's like building a picture frame around the story, to help us see it better.

In this interpretation, people believe that the story in the Book of Genesis is not meant to be a scientific explanation of how the world was created, but more like a poem or a song, with each day representing a different theme or idea.

So, on the first day, God starts creating light, and on the second day, he separates the water from the sky. On the third day, he makes the land and plants. On the fourth day, he creates the sun and moon, and on the fifth day, he creates the animals that swim in water or fly in the air. On the sixth day, he creates the animals that walk on land, and finally, he creates people on the sixth day too.

The framework interpretation helps some people understand that the Bible may not be meant to tell us exactly how the world was created, but rather to remind us of God's goodness and the amazing things he can do. It tells us that God is creative and powerful, and that everything in the world was made by him.

Does that make sense, little one?
