Free element

A free element is an element that exists by itself and isn't combined with any other elements. Examples of free elements are oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. Oxygen is the air we breathe, nitrogen is in the ground and plants, and hydrogen is a gas found in the atmosphere. Free elements can move around and mix with each other. For example, when water is created from oxygen and hydrogen, it's because the two free elements come together!
