Freedom Riders were people who wanted to bring attention to the unfairness of the United States' segregation laws. They were brave people who rode buses around the US in the 1960s, trying to make sure that people of different races could sit together on the buses and in waiting rooms, something that most places did not allow back then. They knew it would be dangerous, but they wanted to show that it was wrong to have laws that said people had to be separated because of their skin color. They wanted to fight for freedom for all people in the US, so they became known as Freedom Riders.
