ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Freedom of contract

Freedom of contract is the idea that two people can agree to do something, like a trade or making a promise. It means that if two people agree to something, like one person giving another person a toy in exchange for money, then the government will not stop them from doing it or punish them for doing it. It also means that the people can make their own terms, meaning they can decide how much money the first person has to pay for the toy and how much the second person has to give them in exchange. Freedom of contract means that people can make deals with each other without the government telling them what they can and cannot do.
