ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Freudenthal algebra

Okay, so imagine you have a magic box that can do lots of math problems for you. This magic box is called Freudenthal algebra.

Inside the box, there are different tools that help you solve different kinds of problems. For example, one tool is called a vector, which is like an arrow that points in a certain direction. Another tool is called a matrix, which is like a big square filled with numbers.

Now, let's say you have a problem like this: Sally has 4 apples and she gives 2 apples to her friend. How many apples does Sally have left?

You can use the Freudenthal algebra box to solve this problem by using a tool called a number. This tool helps you count things like apples. You can start with the number 4, then use another number tool to take away 2, and that leaves you with the answer, which is 2.

Freudenthal algebra can be used for much more complicated problems too, but it all comes down to using different tools inside the box to help you solve the problem.
