Fritz Zwicky was a really smart guy who lived a long time ago. He liked to study space and stars and galaxies. One of the things that he was famous for is something called the "missing mass problem".
You know how when you go to a store, you can see things on the shelves and pick them up? Well, imagine if you went to a store and there were a lot of empty spaces on the shelves, but you couldn't see anything there. That's kind of like what Zwicky was wondering about space.
He looked at galaxies and stars and realized that they were moving in ways that he couldn't explain. According to the laws of physics, they should have been moving in certain ways, but they weren't. Zwicky figured out that there must be some "missing mass" that was causing the strange movements of these objects in space. He called this missing mass "dark matter".
Scientists are still trying to figure out exactly what dark matter is and where it comes from, but we know that Zwicky was one of the first to suggest its existence. He was a curious and clever scientist who helped us understand more about space and our universe.
