ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Frivolous litigation

Hey kiddo,

So, do you know what a court is? It's a place where people go to solve problems or disagreements. Sometimes people go to court for silly reasons. This is called "frivolous litigation".

Let me give you an example. Imagine if you had a lemonade stand, and someone came to buy lemonade from you. But they spilled it on their shirt and got mad at you. They might try to take you to court, even though it was their own fault. This would be a frivolous lawsuit because it's not your fault that they spilled the lemonade.

Sometimes adults do this too, and it can cost a lot of time and money for everyone involved. That's why it's important to only go to court when it's really necessary, and not for silly reasons like spilled lemonade.
