Fructose malabsorption

Fructose is like a type of sugar found in some foods and drinks, like fruits, honey, and some sodas. It's okay for most people to eat these things because their bodies can handle and process the fructose.

However, some people have a condition called fructose malabsorption. This means their body can't process fructose as well as it should. When someone with fructose malabsorption eats foods with fructose in them, it can cause tummy troubles like gas, bloating, stomach cramps, and diarrhea.

It's like when you put too much water into a cup, and it starts to spill out because the cup can't hold it all. For people with fructose malabsorption, their body can't hold all of the fructose they eat, so it spills out and causes tummy troubles.

To help with this condition, people with fructose malabsorption may need to avoid certain foods and drinks that have a lot of fructose. They may also need to talk to their doctor or a dietitian to figure out what types of foods they can eat without problems.
