Hereditary fructose intolerance

Okay, kiddo. Hereditary fructose intolerance is a condition where your body doesn't know how to deal with a certain kind of sugar called fructose.

Normally, when you eat foods with fructose in them, like fruit or candy, your body breaks down the fructose and turns it into something your body can use for energy. But if you have hereditary fructose intolerance, your body can't do that.

So, when you eat foods with fructose in them, it can make you feel really sick. You might get stomachaches, feel really tired, or even throw up.

People with hereditary fructose intolerance have to be very careful about what they eat. They can't have things like fruit, candy, or even things like ketchup or salad dressing that have fructose in them. That might sound like a bummer, but there are still lots of yummy foods they can have that won't make them sick.

The good news is that hereditary fructose intolerance is pretty rare, so most people don't have to worry about it. But for those who do, it's important to talk to a doctor and a dietitian to make sure they're eating the right things to keep them healthy and feeling good.
