Fuel dumping

Fuel dumping is when an airplane needs to get rid of some of its fuel while flying. Think of it like when you have too much water in a cup and you pour a little bit out to make it easier to carry.

Airplanes need to get rid of extra fuel for different reasons. Sometimes, the plane needs to land quickly because there is an emergency on board, and it's safer to land with less fuel than with a lot of it. Other times, the plane might have extra fuel because it was supposed to go on a longer trip, but plans changed and the plane needs to land sooner.

Fuel dumping is done so that the plane can safely land with less fuel. The pilot will usually fly the plane around in circles at a high altitude, away from cities or towns, and the fuel will be released into the air. The fuel evaporates into the air and is then broken down by the sun's rays.

Fuel dumping is not something that happens very often, and it's important for the pilot and the airline to follow strict rules to make sure it's done safely and doesn't harm the environment.
